What is Censorship?

Deleting, banning or getting rid of any information that may cause someone to be upset, sad or angry. That is the definition of censorship. Some thing are censored like XXX (don’t want to say the word), bigotry (prejudice) or sites, blogs etc., about the government that the government thinks is bad or wrong.

Some of you may think that censor just means, ex., censoring a song because it has to much swear words or people don’t want their children to hear that kind of stuff. Well that is not the half of it. Youtube doesn’t let any XXX stuff, or any of that in manner, on their site because they think it’s wrong and bad. If Youtube did see anything like that they would flag it and then ban it from their site so no one would have to see that kind of garbage.

Another example would be sites or blogs that say stuff like “I hate the government!” or “They don’t give us any freedom! I want a new president!”. In Canada and other countries, doing stuff like that is okay. We are aloud to say what we have to say. But in other places like Egypt, if someone made a blog saying stuff like that then they would be arrested by nightfall and would have their site deleted so no one would see what they had to write.

I think that if something need to be censored, then go off and censor it! You wouldn’t want your children to come across a dirty website would you? Or hear curse words in music? It’s as simple as that.

If you would like to know more about censorship then you should visit my teacher’s site. http://remoteaccess.typepad.com/.

Speaking of Mr. Fisher… We had to read his post about Censorship, Audience, and International Collaboration and we had to answer a little question he asked us. Was it right in censoring the terrorism video? Well to me I think that people would have got offended. It would have made them mad thinking that we hate America. Well personally, I don’t. Even though my friends were just making a video and putting in what they thought dose not make it bad for what they have done. Some people would have got a laugh from it. I have to say it was kinda funny but others would think not. So short form really would be yes. Yes I think it was the right thing to do and delete the picture of Mr. Bush.

Well that is all the time I have for now so good-bye my people and peace!

ITL Reflection

What have you learned about your topic?

I learned stuff about global warming that I never knew before like global warming might cause an ice age in Europe, the weather pattern is changing and are making animals migrate and that sea level will rise about 10-20 feet from melting glaciers.

What have you learned about collaborating locally and internationally?

I learned that working together with people in other places of the world can sometimes be fun. You can get to know one another, put your minds together and make friends. I really had fun with my project even thought I didn’t really get to talk to my partners in Malaysia and Colombia.

What would have made this project easier/better/more interesting?

I would have liked to connect with each other and talk it over about how the project should be and what might need improvements. This would have made the project more interesting and better for me and my partners.

What have you learned about telling a story combining pictures/music/video/voice/text?

It was very fun but difficult. Some pictures we needed were hard to find and we also needed the right size of pictures for the movie. A really hard one to find was a burning earth so Me and Dustin have to make one on paint… But after a while, we got the pictures we needed. Then came the video. It took us along time to find the right video. Then after a while… again, we found the perfect video for our… video. When we thought we were done, Mr. Fisher told us that we couldn’t put the hole video in so we had to cut pieces in it and, kind of, make our own video. The music for our video wasn’t hard to find but now we regret picking it… Last thing, well we did it first but I’m talking about it last and… you get my drift, were text and were really easy to do. We just choose ones that fit the scene.

Well it’s time for me to go now, see ya!

Science Post

Hello people!

One day in science we started to learn about solutions and mixtures. Here are the four common mixtures:

Heterogeneous Mixture (Aka Mechanical Mixture): Which means you can see all the substances that are in the object.

Examples: granola bars, bird seeds and some breads

cinnamonmuffins013ue1.jpg

Homogeneous Mixture: Also most the same as a Heterogeneous but you can’t see the different substances in it.

Examples: Kool-aid or water

Saturated Solutions: A solution that has all its space filled up.

Example: When you make ice tea and not all the crystal particles are used up and they just lay at the bottom of the glass.

*Sorry couldn’t find a picture for this one*

Unsaturated Solutions: Which is the opposite of Saturated. Unsaturated solutions have their spaces not filled yet.

Example: Your making ice tea and see no ice tea particles on the bottom of the glass. This tells you that there is still room for more ice tea mixture.
